MAD Academy is an internship program at City-As-School, one of NYC's most radical transfer public high schools, co-founded and directed by Maria Krajewski.
Utilizing an entirely student-driven, experiential, project-based curriculum, our students develop a professional body of work under the
guidance of NYC’s top creatives while earning academic credit to earn a NY State high school diploma.

MAD Academy in collaboration with its partners The Ed Sullivan Fellows (ESF) and NYU Music Experience Design Lab have provided over 75 students unparalleled access and insight into the world of being a professional artist. Working in collaboration with our professional mentors from the worlds of music, fashion and design our students are able to earn high school credit by learning audio recording, mixing, songwriting, production, personal branding, music history, music theory and web design. Students are also guided through weekly self care practices like meditation to prepare them to manage the stress of being a working artist and build deeper self love/confidence.

The result of all this training, mentorship and hard work has culminated in MAD Sessions- a compilation album of all original music written and produced by MAD Academy students. This album features 12 tracks, multiple genres, 29 student artists, 6 professional recording studios, and infinite passion and energy. MAD sessions will be released on full length color vinyl this October. All proceeds from the sale of this record will go to funding the continuation of MAD Academy and giving this new generation of artists the training and tools to create lasting success and community in the creative industry.
